    The Kiwanis Club of Bridgetown invites you to come and enjoy Jazz at Apes Hill Country Club on April 27th, 2019, a fundraising event to launch the 45th anniversary of the existence of the club and more importantly to allow the Club to continue to make a significant contribution providing community service in Barbados. Performers Bill Myers- Bass Player/Music Director Bill has spent his entire career working professionally in the entertainment industry. An accomplished musician, singer, and actor he has appeared in concerts, on Broadway, television, and film. A native of Indianapolis, Bill has been blessed to work with many music greats over the years including Nancy Wilson, Billy Paul, Roz Ryan, Donald Byrd, Victoria Clark, James Moody, Larry Ridley, David Baker, Willis Kirk, Pookie Johnson, Jimmy Coe, and the late Billy Preston. As an actor, his credits include the ABC soap “Loving”, original New York cast of “Once on This Island” and “Kiss of the Spider Woman” and numerous other tv shows and commercials. As a producer, he has produced music CD’s including Kelleen’s “Simply Beautiful”, and “Concerns of the World” by NFL player Bernard Whittington, “Me & Bobby McGee” Tribute to Janis Joplin and several others. He has produced a number of theatrical productions including the Indianapolis critically acclaimed production of “Dreamgirls”, original production of “The Music, Martin & Me” at the Indianapolis Museum of Art, and many special events corporate clients including Indianapolis Circle City Classic, Indiana Black Expo, Indiana Pacers, St. Vincent Hospital, Girls Scouts of Central Indiana, Ronald McDonald House of Indiana, and the YMCA of Greater Indianapolis to name a few. Additionally, Bill has produced several jazz music festivals including Lotza Jazz Festival at Washington Park and the Indiana Avenue Renaissance Jazz Festival. Bill is a former public school teacher and the past President of the Indianapolis Downtown Optimist Club. Additionally, Bill served as past President of the African American Jazz Caucus in NYC. Bill is also an accomplished filmmaker and attended the New York Film Academy at Universal Studios in Los Angeles. Bill currently works as an independent producer, musician, minister, and as a motivational speaker. Roberto Monsalve - Pianist and Composer Roberto Monsalve was born into a family with a strong musical tradition in Linares, Chile. From an early age, he showed an outstanding talent for music, especially the piano. He went on to study piano and cello at the University of Chile in Santiago, and composition at the Federal University of Bahia, Brazil, under Professor Don Lindenberque Cardoso. For the past 15 years, he has worked mostly in Santiago as a jazz pianist, composer, and arranger. He has collaborated with other musicians on numerous recordings and frequently accompanied well-known performers on tour to other countries in South America and Europe. Roberto has lived in the United States, Spain, Italy, France, and Brazil. Victor Garcia- Trumpet Examiner.com’s Neil Tesser calls him “one of the most exciting young musicians.” Chicago Tribune’s Howard Reich says that he “stands out as an ebullient soloist offering a formidable technique and a radiantly polished tone.” JazzChicago.net’s Brad Walseth regards him as a “young lion trumpeter.” He’s as versatile as he is creative. His trumpet talent heralds his international acclaim. He sings, he plays percussion and bass and congas, and his songwriting, arrangements, and charts have led him to professorial positions at Roosevelt University, Loyola University and the University of Illinois in Chicago. The lineup of greats he’s performed with speaks for itself: Aretha Franklin, Arturo Sandoval, Spoon, Monty Alexander, Victor Manuelle, Nicholas Payton, La India, the Temptations, Steve Turre, BeBe Winans, Tito Puente, Jr., Paquito d’Rivera, Randy Brecker, Branford Marsalis, and Dr. John. Victor has recorded on dozens of albums, three of them Grammy-nominated. He’s currently on tour with The Isley Brothers and released his debut album, The Grind/The Groove, in 2018. Anthony Bush - Drummer/Vocalist and Producer Anthony Bush was born in Indianapolis, Indiana into a family of talented musicians, singers, and songwriters. He has worked extensively in Atlanta, New York, Las Vegas and abroad professionally for many years. Inspired by Charlie Wilson, DJ Roders, Babyface, Donnie Hathaway, and Stevie Wonder, Anthony is an accomplished musician, singer, songwriter, and producer. He received a Gold Record for his lead vocal performance on the featured song “Come Around” from the Nutty Professor soundtrack. He has worked with many artists including projects with producers Cory Rooney, Prince Markey Dee, and Kelly Price. Orly Penate-Guitarist/Producer/Engineer Orly Penate is a singer, songwriter, musician and producer/engineer. From a tender age, Orly found his voice and passion in singing and songwriting. He is also an accomplished guitarist and bassist. Orly is well versed in many genres, performing contemporary, R&B, jazz, and Latin music. He has performed with such artists as Natalie Cole, James Ingram, Wayne Newton, Bertie Higgins, Hal Melvin, and the Blue Notes, Marion Meadows and has shared the stage with extraordinary artists such as Kirk Whalum, Russ Freidman, Roberto Vazquez and the late, great BB King, to name a few. Over the past decade, Orly has expanded his career, becoming a successful musical director and technical manager for the world’s longest-running live tribute show, Legends in Concert out of Las Vegas, touring both stateside and abroad. The extensive worldwide travel was an extraordinary experience that helped Orly see production from a fresh perspective. Returning home, passion ignited, Orly, is excited to combine his expertise of producing and engineering with the aspects of live entertainment to offer a broader spectrum of possibilities to up-and-coming new artists, as a producer. Prior to touring on so many live stage shows, Orly had the wonderful opportunity to work on and produce such great albums as “Secrets” by Marion Meadows, “Between Two Worlds” by Roberto Vazquez, “Currents” by Jeff Prime Group, Sounds of Vision and “Duality” by Inia. Through the medium of OJA Music Productions, Orly has expanded the success of his career as a producer/ engineer. He hopes to reach the masses by his remarkable gift to share his vision of music.
